Chitosan quaternary ammonium salt is the senior made by chemical modification of chitosan derivatives, called the hydroxypropyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, chitosan, hereinafter referred to as HACC, is white or light yellow powdered solid, hygroscopicity strong, have a sweet and refreshing. Chitosan quaternary ammonium salt non-toxic (LD50 > 5000 mg/KGB. Wt), good biocompatibility and biodegradability.
Quaternary ammonium salt of chitosan has good antibacterial property, film-forming property, rational, moisture absorption, moisture resistance, flocculation, antistatic etc. Its antibacterial properties is better than that of chitosan and other derivatives. Chitosan quaternary ammonium salt of e. coli, for example, the minimum bacteriostatic concentration (MIC) of 0.039 mg/ml, the staphylococcus aureus minimum bacteriostatic concentration (MIC) of 0.078 mg/ml; E. coli and chitosan on minimum bacteriostatic concentration (MIC) of 0.312 mg/ml, the staphylococcus aureus minimum bacteriostatic concentration (MIC) of 2.5 mg/ml.
